Job summary

Alberta Precision Labs at Belmont Town Centre Patient Service Centre is seeking a Medical Laboratory Assistant I to join a fast-paced, public-facing team. You will handle phlebotomy, ECGs, specimen processing, and reporting results, while ensuring excellent patient service and safety in a rotating shift schedule.

Qualifications

• Completion of an accredited Medical Laboratory Assistant program or equivalent.
• Previous Phlebotomy experience and ECG certification.
• At least 2 years of recent phlebotomy experience. ECG experience.

Responsibilities

• Perform phlebotomy, ECGs and monitor wait times to ensure quality service for patients.
• Procure, handle, process, dispatch and test specimens, and report results.
• Provide high quality service to clients of the clinical laboratory in a fast-paced environment.

The team at Belmont Town Centre Patient Service Centre (PSC), is looking to add a highly engaged, enthusiastic, and outgoing Medical Laboratory Assistant to join our team in this fast-paced, public-facing location. Here you will have the opportunity to work both independently and as a member of our team where you will be responsible for a variety of laboratory functions, including phlebotomy, ECG’s and monitoring wait times to ensure you are providing the best service to your patients.In this role you will be the first contact that patients have with the laboratory. This environment allows you the ability to adapt and work effectively under pressure, utilize time management skills, and prioritize tasks within this ever-changing environment.Your organization and communication skills will help you collaborate and maintain positive working relationships with internal stakeholders and other health care professionals.This position works rotating shifts Monday to Friday between the hours of 0600-1930 and every third Saturday and Sunday between the hours of 0700-1530 at Belmont PSC.Make a difference in your community as you help healthcare professionals and patients get the information they need to improve, optimize, and maintain good health.
