Job description

This is a multisite position in which shifts will be primarily at Leduc Laboratory. Shifts at Devon and WestView will be only as needed to support operations. Stony Plain, Devon and Leduc are all towns in the Edmonton Metropolitan Region of Alberta that is surrounded by Parkland County. Stony Plain is approximately 40 minutes West of Edmonton adjacent to the City of Spruce Grove and sits on Treaty 6 land. Devon is approximately 26 km southwest of Edmonton and Leduc is immediately south of the City of Edmonton.

Description:

As a Medical Laboratory Assistant I, you will provide high quality service to clients of the clinical laboratory in an effective, efficient and safe manner. You will be responsible for a variety of laboratory functions including procurement, handling, processing, dispatching and testing of specimens, performing procedures and reporting results.

Required Qualifications:

Completion of an accredited Medical Laboratory Assistant program or equivalent.

Additional Required Qualifications:

A Grade 12 high school diploma is required. Successful demonstration of laboratory skills and data entry is required. Working within a team environment, good interpersonal skills, effective time management and the ability to set priorities are necessary. The successful candidate must be adaptable and flexible within an environment of change and interruptions. The candidate selected will have the ability to listen, comprehend and orally respond to or relay information, directions or questions in person, over the phone or in writing in an accurate, clear and concise manner. The successful candidate must represent Laboratory Medicine and Pathology in a respectful, professional and courteous manner. Recent experience in Urinalysis.
