Cold Lake is a city in northeastern Alberta, Canada and is named after the lake nearby. The Provincial campground boasts a wilderness trail system, a beach, boat launch and a powered section. Kinosoo Beach is a favorite destination during the hot summer months between June and August. As a Medical Laboratory Assistant I, you will provide high quality service to clients of the clinical laboratory in an effective, efficient and safe manner. You will be responsible for a variety of laboratory functions including procurement, handling, processing, dispatching and testing of specimens, performing procedures and reporting results.
Completion of an accredited Medical Laboratory Assistant program or equivalent.
Phlebotomy experience is required. Working within a team environment, good interpersonal skills, effective time management and the ability to set priorities are necessary. Excellent communication skills both written and oral are required. Must have the ability to work in a fast-paced environment, be adaptable and flexible within an environment of change and interruptions. Must be able to represent Laboratory Medicine in a respectful, professional, and courteous manner.The primary responsibilities of the Laboratory Assistant I include performing all aspects of the preanalytical path of workflow including phlebotomy for adults, children and infants using both macro and micro techniques, accessioning patient specimens, troubleshooting problem specimens, performing ECGs, and reception duties. The successful candidate will provide support to the lab by collecting and processing quality specimens for analysis.
Experience performing macroscopic and microscopic urinalysis testing. EPIC LIS experience is preferred.
