Job description

Responsible for completing work assignments with minimal supervision, in support of production, through the use of all material testing equipment.

Must have a high school diploma or equivalent.Must have at least one year training or education in areas related to material testing. Must demonstrate proficient performance of Lab Technician B and C essential duties.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
  • Perform full range of materials testing processes including operation of equipment and execution of standard procedures with minimal supervision. Equipment includes lathes, mills, grinders, lab microscopes, microhardness testers, surface hardness testers, tensile testing, etc.
  • Document results of testing for delivery to customers.
  • Maintain good working order of equipment in compliance with all equipment manufacturer and safety requirements.
  • Maintain clean equipment and work areas.
  • Wear personal protective equipment and follow safety instructions as required.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
  • Must be able to lift 50 lb. parts and other items from floor to waist on an occasional basis while protecting lifted items from damage.
  • Must be able to stand for several consecutive hours without rest, with frequent bending and reaching.
  • Must be able to walk within and between areas constantly and climb stairs occasionally.
MENTAL REQUIREMENTS:
  • Must be able to understand and reliably carry out extensive and detailed process instructions.
  • Must be able to understand and carry out verbal instructions.
  • Must be able to work effectively in a fast-pace environment, despite periodic interruptions.
