Job summary

Great Canadian Entertainment in Toronto is seeking a diligent Kitchen Steward to support the food and beverage team. Under supervision, you will keep all kitchen areas, equipment and utensils clean, and ensure dishes, glasses and pots are spotless while upholding safety standards.

You will help receive goods, stock shelves, and maintain sanitation in busy environments. A WHMIS, Food Handling, and Smart Serve certification are assets, and the role requires standing for long periods and

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent working experience.
• 1+ years of kitchen experience.
• WHMIS, Food Handling certificates are assets.
• Smart Serve certificate is required.
• Follow instructions in a friendly and professional manner.
• Know causes of food poisoning and prevention methods.
• Maintain positive working relationships with staff and management.
• Able to work independently and under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong organizational, interpersonal, time management and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Organize, rinse, spray and load dishes into dishwasher or wash by hand as required.
• Check completed load for cleanliness and re-wash dishes if necessary.
• Report any equipment malfunctions, breakages and discrepancies to the supervisor.
• Store all clean dishes and kitchenware in the appropriate area.
• Sort and remove garbage and recycling as required.
• Ensure cleanliness and sanitation of the general kitchen areas including floors, counters, equipment, walls and workspaces.
• Assist with the receipt of goods in the work area and stock shelves to ensure appropriate inventory levels.
• Clean general and common areas in the food and beverage locations.
• Comply with all food safety and health and safety requirements including PPE as required.
• Ensure compliance with licensing laws, health and safety and other statutory regulations.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
