Position Overview

GNS is seeking a dedicated and passionate Junior Kindergarten Assistant to join our Early Learning team. With a blended approach that incorporates Montessori and Reggio Emilia principles with the Primary Years Programme (PYP), the JK Assistant will play a key role in fostering curiosity, independence, and foundational skills in our JK3 programme.

Beyond the academic day, this role also has the opportunity to support our Camp Program during school breaks - preferably in a full-time capacity - providing continuity of care and learning across our early childhood programs.

At GNS, every student is known, valued and celebrated, and this is reflected in the care and attention we bring to each child’s academic, personal, and co-curricular growth. Our educators are passionate, collaborative professionals who create engaging learning experiences, contribute to our rich co-curricular offerings, and participate fully in the life and culture of our independent school community.

What You’ll Bring

Candidates must have ECE or ECEA certification and knowledge of current educational trends in a Junior Kindergarten setting. Montessori and/or Reggio Emilia experience will be considered an asset. Experience and interest in weekly Nature School and knowledge of the International Baccalaureate Primary Years Programme would be an asset. You will have a strong knowledge of inquiry-based learning approaches, possess a passion for innovation and creativity, and be highly reflective and committed to continuous professional growth and improvement.

Our 'Must-Haves'

You will possess a love for children and a strong understanding of three and four year olds. You will be a caring, collaborative and compassionate educator who actively lives the GNS values of Truth, Courage, Caring, Individuality and Community. You will demonstrate a high degree of professionalism and integrity, be driven to succeed, and always put relationships first. You will have a natural ability to connect with others, be tactful and diplomatic in your approach, and ultimately help our students do their best through truth and courage.
