Job summary

Glenlyon Norfolk School (GNS) in Victoria, BC, is seeking a dedicated Junior Kindergarten Assistant to join our Early Learning team. This temporary, part-time role runs 11:30 am–3:30 pm with an immediate start through August 2027.

The JK Assistant will support a blended Montessori and Reggio Emilia approach within the IB Primary Years Programme, helping foster curiosity, independence and foundational skills in JK3.

Qualifications

• ECE or ECEA certification is required.
• Knowledge of current trends in Junior Kindergarten education.
• Experience with inquiry-based learning approaches.
• Interest in weekly Nature School and IB PYP knowledge a plus.
• Montessori or Reggio Emilia experience is an asset.
• Strong creativity and commitment to professional growth.

Junior Kindergarten Assistant

Hourly rate: $36.17 - $39.17, depending on experience

Position Overview

GNS is seeking a dedicated and passionate Junior Kindergarten Assistant to join our Early Learning team. With a blended approach that incorporates Montessori and Reggio Emilia principles with the Primary Years Programme (PYP), the JK Assistant will play a key role in fostering curiosity, independence, and foundational skills in our JK3 programme.

Beyond the academic day, this role also has the opportunity to support our Camp Program during school breaks - preferably in a full-time capacity - providing continuity of care and learning across our early childhood programs.

What You’ll Bring

Candidates must have ECE or ECEA certification and knowledge of current educational trends in a Junior Kindergarten setting. Montessori and/or Reggio Emilia experience will be considered an asset. Experience and interest in weekly Nature School and knowledge of the International Baccalaureate Primary Years Programme would be an asset. You will have a strong knowledge of inquiry-based learning approaches, possess a passion for innovation and creativity, and be highly reflective and committed to continuous professional growth and improvement.
