Job summary

Vaco Recruiter Services is assisting a client in Calgary, Alberta, to hire a Financial Analyst/Junior Financial Analyst. The role focuses on month-end close, AR/AP reviews, regulatory filings, and cost accounting support in a growing cannabis-focused company.

The ideal candidate has 1–3 years of accounting experience and a diploma in accounting, with opportunities for mentorship and internal advancement within the accounting team.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of full cycle accounting, reconciliations, and variance analysis.

Responsibilities

• Assist with the month-end close process through the preparation and analysis of monthly journal entries, and balance sheet account schedules.
• Perform AR/AP listing reviews and investigate deviations from expectations.
• Assist with regulatory compliance requirements such as Statistics Canada surveys and monthly GST return filings.
• Assist with quarter-end review and year-end audit requests.
• Assist with plant cost accounting transactions.
• Support with ad hoc requests and analyses, as required.
• Internal and External Stakeholder Communications:
• Support internal team members with day-to-day transactional needs.
• Perform other duties as requested by your manager.

About You

• At least 1-3 years of experience in accounting or related areas
• Completion of a diploma in accounting or a combination of accounting related work experience and a diploma in a different specialty.
• Knowledge of full cycle accounting, reconciliations, and variance analysis.

Salary Range

$70,000 - $85,000/year
