Job summary

Vaco by Highspring is seeking a Financial Analyst/Junior Financial Analyst in the Greater Calgary Area. The role supports month-end close, AR/AP reviews, regulatory filings, and audits within a growing cannabis-focused company.

Requires 1–3 years accounting experience and a diploma in accounting; compensation ranges from $70,000 to $85,000 per year. Join a startup with internal promotion opportunities, mentorship from CPA professionals, and a Monday–Friday schedule from 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM

Qualifications

• At least 1-3 years of experience in accounting or related areas.
• Completion of a diploma in accounting or a combination of accounting related work experience and a diploma in a different specialty.
• Knowledge of full cycle accounting, reconciliations, and variance analysis.

Responsibilities

• Assist with the month-end close process through the preparation and analysis of monthly journal entries, and balance sheet account schedules.
• Perform AR/AP listing reviews and investigate deviations from expectations.
• Assist with regulatory compliance requirements such as Statistics Canada surveys and monthly GST return filings.
• Assist with quarter-end review and year-end audit requests.
• Assist with plant cost accounting transactions.
• Support with ad hoc requests and analyses, as required.
• Internal and External Stakeholder Communications: Support internal team members with day-to-day transactional needs.
