Job summary

A leading financial consulting firm is seeking an experienced accountant for a hybrid role in downtown Toronto. This 6-month contract offers a chance for extension. The role involves month-end and year-end close processes, financial reporting, and compliance with accounting standards. The ideal candidate has at least 5 years of experience in accounting and strong Excel skills. Healthcare or NPO experience is an advantage. • Strong knowledge of billing, ledger maintenance, and variance analysis.
• Experience in healthcare or NPO industry is an asset.

Responsibilities

• Support month-end and year-end close with accounts maintenance.
• Prepare financial reports and support for leadership and Board.
• Ensure compliance with PSAS reporting and audit requirements.
• Assist with internal controls, process improvements, and data integrity initiatives in collaboration with cross-functional teams.
• Complete statutory filings (HST, charity returns), maintain chart of accounts, and support ad hoc finance projects.

CONTRACT: 6 months, with chance for extension

SETUP: Hybrid - 2 days/week in office, downtown Toronto.

START DATE: ASAP

Responsibilities

• Support month-end and year-end close, including journal entries, general ledger maintenance, and balance sheet reconciliations.
• Prepare variance analysis and financial reports to support business partners, senior leadership, and Board reporting.
• Ensure accurate accounting treatment and compliance with PSAS reporting Standards, and audit requirements.
• Assist with internal controls, process improvements, and data integrity initiatives in collaboration with cross-functional teams.
• Complete statutory filings (HST, charity returns), maintain chart of accounts, and support ad hoc finance projects.

Requirements

• Minimum 5 years of progressive accounting or financial reporting experience
• Strong knowledge of accounting standards, financial reporting, audit support, and data quality management.
• Strong Excel skills, and expereicne with large ERP
• Healthcare / NPO industry experience is an asset
