The Senior Accountant is responsible for supporting the organization's accounting and financial reporting functions, ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial information. The successful candidate will oversee month-end processes, account reconciliations, financial analysis, grant and fund reporting, and support audit and budgeting activities.

About the Opportunity

Financial Reporting & Accounting

• Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
• Perform month-end and year-end close activities, including journal entries, accruals, and account reconciliations.
• Analyze financial results and investigate variances.
• Maintain the general ledger and ensure the accuracy of financial records.
• Support the preparation of management reports and financial presentations.

Fund & Grant Accounting

• Track and monitor restricted and unrestricted funding sources.
• Prepare grant-related financial reports and ensure compliance with funding requirements.
• Assist with fund accounting activities and reporting requirements.
• Support grant budgeting, forecasting, and reconciliation processes.

Audit & Compliance

• Coordinate the annual audit process and prepare supporting documentation.
• Ensure compliance with applicable accounting standards, regulatory requirements, and internal controls.
• Assist in developing and maintaining accounting policies and procedures.
• Support CRA reporting and other statutory filings as required.

Budgeting & Financial Analysis

• Assist with the annual budget and forecasting process.
• Provide financial analysis and reporting to support operational and strategic decision-making.
• Monitor expenditures and provide recommendations to management.
• Support departmental leaders with budget-to-actual reporting and financial inquiries.

Process Improvement

• Identify opportunities to improve financial processes, controls, and reporting efficiencies.
• Participate in system implementations and process improvement initiatives.
• Assist with special projects and ad hoc financial analysis as required.

About You

• 5 years of progressive accounting experience.
• Strong understanding of full-cycle accounting and financial reporting.
• Experience preparing account reconciliations, journal entries, and working papers.
• Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Excel.
• Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
