Position: Junior Buyer
Role Overview

The Junior Buyer supports the procurement of materials and services required for day-to-day operations. This is an entry-level role designed for someone early in their supply chain career who is eager to learn, develop strong purchasing fundamentals, and grow within a collaborative team environment. With support and mentorship from Intermediate and Senior Buyers, the Junior Buyer will learn to apply sound purchasing judgment to achieve best overall value for the organization while delivering excellent service to internal customers.

The successful candidate’s responsibilities will include:
  • Create purchase orders for materials and services in accordance with Corporate Purchasing procedures
  • Monitor open purchase orders and assist with expediting as needed to support production schedules
  • Support the management of safety stock levels and inventory accuracy
  • Provide a high level of service to internal production and business partners
  • Build and maintain positive working relationships with suppliers and internal stakeholders
  • Participate in supplier performance reviews and rating activities
  • Assist Intermediate and Senior Buyers with RFP and sourcing activities
  • Execute small RFQs with guidance as needed
  • Support cost-saving initiatives by identifying opportunities and assisting with analysis
  • Ensure purchasing documentation is complete, accurate, and properly approved
  • Participate in training, development, and cross-training opportunities within the department

The ideal candidate for this position will have:
  • High School Diploma with 1–3 years of related education, co-op, internship, or entry-level experience
    OR
  • Supply Management Training (SMT) designation, or willingness to complete
  • Interest in purchasing, supply chain, or operations
  • Willingness to learn corporate purchasing processes and procedures
  • Comfortable using computers and learning ERP systems (experience with Syteline or similar is an asset)
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong attention to detail, initiative, and a customer-service mindset
  • Basic understanding of how purchasing interacts with other departments is an asset
