Job summary

Cooper Equipment Rentals is seeking a gas fitter apprentice with strong diagnostic skills to install, inspect, and maintain heating equipment in commercial and residential settings. The role involves testing, replacing defective parts, and handling gas line installations, with on-site support and customer interaction.

Qualified candidates will have completed at least one year in a Gas Fitter apprenticeship; journeyperson ticket is a plus.

• Journeyperson ticket is an asset.
• Ability to troubleshoot, diagnose, service and repair heating equipment.

Responsibilities

• Install, inspect, repair and maintain heating equipment (NG and LP).

• Attend to gas escape calls and advise clients on safety features.
• Prepare reports on work performed and conditions of equipment.
• Perform pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections.

Perks!Competitive salary, with overtime availableExcellent benefit package with premiums paid by the companyTool allowanceUniform, safety boots/shoes, safety gear providedRRSP MatchSafety-minded organizationStable, year-round employmentContinuous training, learning and development opportunitiesFun-loving work environment with strong social responsibilityWhat You’ll Be DoingDuties and Responsibilities:Installation, inspection, repair and maintenance of heating equipment both NG and LP. also working with regulators and heating units in residential, commercial and industrial establishments.Testing and replacement of defective heating equipment.Be able to work alone with direction from Journeyman Gasfitter.Highly developed verbal and written communication skills with the ability to converse with a wide variety of customers and internal resources.Measure and mark reference points for installation of gas lines and equipment.Install, maintain and service gas heating units and their components, such as burners, valves, and automatic controls.Test and replace defective equipment or components.Test and adjust control mechanisms and check pipes and piping connections for gas leaks using gas detecting devices.Attend to gas escape calls.Prepare reports on work performed and condition of equipment.Advise clients regarding standards, safety features and maintenance of gas units and systems.May repair and service gas appliances and related equipment.Check equipment for damage upon return, report damage and fill out service tags for all returned equipment.Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspection of vehicle.What You’ll Bring to the TeamQualifications and Requirements:Must have completed at least one year of a Gas Fitter apprenticeship program.
