Job summary

Trotter & Morton Facility Services is seeking a Journeyperson HVAC Technician to join our Calgary, Alberta team. You will read blueprints, install and service heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and refrigeration systems, and mentor apprentices on-site.

We value strong work ethic, attention to detail, and the ability to lead by example. A Red Seal certification and 5+ years as a journeyman are required, with chiller and cooling tower experience considered an asset.

Qualifications

• Trade certification / Red Seal required.
• Minimum 5 years journeyman experience.
• Chiller and cooling tower experience is an asset.

Responsibilities

• Read and interpret blueprints, drawings or specifications.
• Measure and lay out reference points for installation.
• Assemble and install refrigeration or HVAC components using hand and power tools.
• Install, troubleshoot and overhaul HVAC/R systems and start up and test for leaks.
• Provide service and customer support during field visits or dispatches.
• Mentor apprentices.

Trotter & Morton Facility Services provides 24/7 preventive and predictive mechanical system maintenance and repair to condominiums, commercial, and institutional buildings.

We are looking to hire hard-working and committed individuals who will contribute to our team of experienced technicians by bringing their willingness to learn and high-quality workmanship to every job.

We currently have an opportunity for a Journeyperson HVAC Technician to join our team.

Roles and Responsibilities

• Read and interpret blueprints, drawings or other specifications
• Measure and lay out reference points for installation
• Assemble and install refrigeration or air conditioning components such as motors, controls, gauges, valves, circulating pumps, condensers, humidifiers, evaporators and compressors using hand and power tools
• Measure and cut piping, and connect piping using welding and brazing equipment
• Install, troubleshoot and overhaul entire heating, ventilation, air handling, refrigeration and air conditioning systemsStart up system and test for leaks using testing devices
• Recharge system with refrigerant, check and test regulators, calibrate system and perform routine maintenance or servicing
• Repair and replace parts and components for entire refrigeration, air conditioning, ventilation or heat pump systems
• May install, maintain and repair equipment in refrigerated trucks used to transport food or medical supplies
• Provide service and customer support during field visits or dispatches
• Communicate with Dispatch team for personnel scheduling and service optimization
• May prepare work estimates for clients
• Mentor apprentices

Required Experience

• Trade Certification/ Red Seal
• Minimum 5 years experience as a Journeyman
• Chiller and Cooling Tower experience is considered an asset
