You will install, maintain, and repair HVAC systems on commercial and institutional projects, working hands-on in a fast-paced environment with safety and quality at the forefront. You will supervise on-site activities, coordinate with other trades, and provide guidance to junior team members, ensuring projects meet deadlines and comply with codes.

Qualifications

• Supervisory experience required; able to oversee a crew on active construction sites.
• Strong communication with clients and team members to coordinate tasks.
• Solid diagnostic and troubleshooting abilities for HVAC/refrigeration systems.

Responsibilities

• Install, maintain, and repair HVAC and refrigeration systems per drawings and specs.
• Perform preventative maintenance on heating, cooling, and refrigeration equipment.
• Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical issues and complete repairs efficiently.
• Oversee daily HVAC work on-site and guide junior team members.
• Coordinate with other trades and project teams to meet deadlines.
• Follow safety protocols and ensure regulatory compliance.
• Maintain documentation using SharePoint and other tools.

Job description

We are seeking an experienced HVAC Journeyman to join our growing service team in Ottawa, ON.

You’ll be responsible for installing, maintaining, and repairing HVAC systems on commercial and institutional projects. This role is hands-on and fast-paced, requiring someone who takes pride in quality work and values working safely alongside a team.

As An HVAC Journeyman, You Will

• Install, maintain, and repair HVAC and refrigeration systems according to mechanical drawings and specifications
• Perform preventative maintenance on heating, cooling, and refrigeration equipment
• Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical issues, completing repairs efficiently
• Oversee daily HVAC work on-site and provide guidance to junior team members
• Work closely with other trades and project teams to coordinate tasks and meet deadlines
• Follow all safety protocols and ensure compliance with codes and regulations
• Maintain accurate records and complete documentation using tools such as SharePoint
• Communicate clearly with clients, team members, and vendors

Qualifications

• Strong supervisory skills with experience in team oversight
• Effective communication skills for interacting with clients and team members
• Valid 313A Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Systems Mechanic license
• Valid Gas Technician 1 (G1) license
• Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record
• Experience working on active construction sites, preferably in commercial or institutional settings
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment
• Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic skills
• Comfortable using Microsoft Office and SharePoint for documentation
• Professional, dependable, and able to work both independently and as part of a team
