Job summary

Finning Canada is hiring multiple Heavy Duty Mechanics for our BC Mobile Team. You will troubleshoot, repair and perform preventative maintenance on Caterpillar equipment in shop and field settings across BC and the Yukon.

Expect a 14x14 rotation with generous premiums, travel support, and comprehensive benefits. Qualified candidates hold Interprovincial HET Certification, have 3+ years field truck experience, a valid driver’s license, and willingness for CAT training and ongoing development.

Qualifications

• Interprovincial Journeyperson Heavy Equipment Technician (HET) Certification (On-Road & Off Road)
• Dual Tickets will be an asset
• 3+ years demonstrated experience in a Field Truck
• Valid driver's license with a successful recent driver abstract
• Previous Caterpillar experience is an asset
• Willingness to participate and complete additional training
• Self-motivated, computer literate, and safety orientated with the ability to work under minimal supervision

Responsibilities

• Field diagnosis and running repairs of Caterpillar and non-Caterpillar equipment, in field environment (possibility of remote locations)
• Respond to customer needs in a positive, supportive, and timely manner to ensure maximum value for work performed
• Diagnose faults or malfunctions using computerized and other testing equipment to determine extent of repair required
• Utilize Caterpillar SIS and ET daily
• Complete technical documentation (service reports, warranty, crossover notes)
• Interact with customers, sales support, and the rest of the Finning team

Job Description

As a Heavy Duty Mechanic with the BC Mobile Team, you’ll troubleshoot and perform running repairs on mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical systems and perform preventative maintenance across a wide range of Caterpillar Equipment in both a shop and field environment.

This role supports our customers throughout BC and the YK. Shift is 14 x 14.

A condition of employment is the ability to obtain Customer Site access (Drug & Alcohol, Fitness testing and a Clear Background check) and wear a respirator where applicable.
