Job summary

Finning Canada, based in Yellowknife, NT, is seeking a dedicated Heavy Duty Mechanic for field maintenance and repairs on Caterpillar engines and equipment. The role is Monday to Friday, 5x2, with a strong focus on safety, accuracy in service reports, and customer interaction.

You should be a Journeyperson Heavy Equipment Technician with a valid driver’s license, and be prepared to advance with CAT certifications and Finning training paid for by the employer.

Qualifications

  • Journeyperson Heavy Equipment Technician certification required.
  • Valid driver’s license with a clean abstract.
  • Safety-conscious team player with strong organization and communication.
  • Willingness to complete Finning S-Levels or Tier 4 training as asset.

Responsibilities

  • Troubleshoot equipment and perform repairs on Caterpillar engines and equipment.
  • Interact with customers, products, sales support and Finning team.
  • Use Caterpillar SIS and ET daily for service documentation.
  • Complete service reports, warranty, and crossover notes.
  • Support on-site safety requirements and adhere to CS commitments.

We are currently looking for a dedicated Heavy Duty Mechanic who will be responsible for the field maintenance and repair of a variety of Caterpillar engines and equipment. Based in Yellowknife, NT on a Monday to Friday, 5x2 shift schedule.

Job Description:
  • Trouble shooting equipment and perform equipment repairs
  • Interact with customers, products and sales support, and the rest of the Finning team
  • Utilize Caterpillar SIS and ET daily
  • Complete technical documentation (service reports, warranty, crossover notes)
  • Providing support with reference to on-site safety requirements
  • Maintain Finning Customer Service Commitment
  • Work with the Service Supervisor on various tasks as required
Specific Skills & Experience
  • Interprovincial Heavy Equipment Technician (HET) Certification
  • Valid driver’s license with a successful recent drivers abstract
  • Safety conscious team player with excellent organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills with a high attention to detail
  • Completion of Finning S-Levels, Failure Analysis, Machine Electronic Controls, or Tier 4 training would be considered an asset
  • Completion of Caterpillar product courses would be considered an asset
  • Previous Caterpillar mining equipment repair experience would be considered an asset
