Job summary

West Fraser's Edson division in Alberta is seeking a Heavy Duty Mechanic to maintain sawmill equipment, perform preventative maintenance, and troubleshoot issues to keep production moving safely and efficiently.

Ideal candidates hold a Red Seal Certificate or equivalent journeyman inter-provincial certification and a valid AB driver’s license, with strong organizational and communication skills and a cooperative, team‑oriented mindset.

• Must have a Red Seal Certificate or journeyman inter-provincial certification.
• Strong organizational and communication skills are required.
• Excellent interpersonal and team-building abilities are essential.

Responsibilities

• Maintain Sawmill heavy duty equipment such as forklifts and loaders.
• Conduct preventative maintenance and verify/document repairs.
• Monitor product quality and provide feedback; troubleshoot diverse equipment.

You'll Do

• Maintenance of Sawmill Heavy Duty Equipment such as forklifts and loaders
• Maintain a safe work environment
• Verify and document repairs
• Monitor product quality and provide feedback
• Preventative maintenance
• Troubleshooting for various pieces of equipment

You Have

• Candidates must possess a Red Seal Certificate
• A valid journeyman or inter-provincial certification is required
• Strong organizational and communication skills
• Excellent interpersonal and team building skills
• Demonstrated problem solving, troubleshooting and analytical skills
• Weekend and/or shift work may be required
• Valid AB driver’s license

Considered a Strong Asset

• Previous experience working in a sawmill or an industrial environment
