Job summary

West Fraser's Hinton Wood Products division in Hinton, AB, is seeking a skilled Millwright to support daily maintenance and continuous improvement initiatives. You will work on pumps, conveyors, hydraulics and mechanical systems, performing preventative maintenance and repairs while following safety practices.

The ideal candidate holds a valid Inter-Provincial or Provincial Journeyperson Millwright certification (or is a Millwright apprentice in year 3), demonstrates strong problem-solving

Qualifications

• Valid Inter-Provincial or Provincial Journeyperson Millwright certification (or enrolled in year 3 of an apprenticeship).
• Mechanical aptitude and strong problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work with other trades and employees.
• Commitment to safe work practices and safety.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Flexible to work days, nights and weekends.

Responsibilities

• Maintenance of pumps, conveyors, compressors, mechanical systems, rollers, bearings and hydraulics.
• Undertake a preventative maintenance program for equipment.
• Read blueprints, diagrams and schematics to repair equipment.
• Operate hoisting and lifting devices to position machinery during assembly, installation and repair.
• Work in man lifts with fall protection equipment.
• Repair and assemble hydraulic equipment and cylinders.
• Verify and document repairs performed.
• Work safely using PPE.

The Millwright will be a crucial player in our continuous maintenance improvement program through the daily use of troubleshooting and preventative maintenance strategies.

You’ll Do

• Maintenance of pumps, conveyors, compressors, mechanical systems, rollers & chains, bearings and hydraulics involved in manufacturing.


• Undertake a preventative maintenance program for equipment.


• Read blueprints, diagrams, and schematic drawings to repair equipment.


• Operate hoisting and lifting devices to position machinery and parts during the assembly, installation, set-up and repair of equipment and machinery.


• Work in man lifts with the use of fall protection equipment.


• Repair and assemble hydraulic equipment and cylinders.


• Verify and document repairs made.


• Work in a safe manner using proper PPE.

You Have

• A valid Inter-Provincial or Provincial Journeyperson Millwright certification or a Millwrighting Apprentice preparing to enroll in their 3rd year


• Mechanical aptitude; excellent problem-solving skills


• Ability to work closely with other trades and employees


• Commitment to working safely and creating a safe workplace


• Strong communication and interpersonal skills


• Flexible schedule to workdays, nights and/or weekend shifts
