Job summary

West Fraser is recruiting a Millwright for the Alberta Plywood Division in Edmonton. The role supports continuous maintenance improvement through troubleshooting and preventative maintenance strategies.

The ideal candidate will hold a valid Millwright certification, demonstrate mechanical aptitude and strong problem-solving skills, and be able to work safely with other trades. Relocation assistance is available.

Qualifications

  • A valid Inter-Provincial or Provincial Journeyperson Millwright certification.
  • Mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills are essential.
  • Ability to collaborate with other trades and employees; strong communication.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain pumps, conveyors, compressors, mechanical systems, rollers, bearings, hydraulics in manufacturing.
  • Oversee contractor work and manage costs.
  • Operate Maximo and CMMS systems; learn PDM programs and reliability training.
  • Undertake preventative maintenance for equipment and read blueprints and diagrams.
  • Position machinery using hoists; work in man-lifts with fall protection.

West Fraser offers a range of exciting career opportunities for individuals seeking challenging and rewarding careers. Alberta Plywood Division is currently recruiting for a Millwright Certified.

The Millwright will be a key player in our continuous maintenance improvement program through the daily use of troubleshooting and preventative maintenance strategies.

  • Maintenance of pumps, conveyors, compressors, mechanical systems, rollers & chains, bearings, and hydraulics involved in the manufacturing process.
  • Cost management.
  • Contractor supervision.
  • Use of Maximo and CMMS programs.
  • Willingness to learn PDM programs and take reliability training.
  • Undertake a preventative maintenance program for equipment.
  • Read blueprints, diagrams, and schematic drawings to repair equipment.
  • Operate hoisting and lifting devices to position machinery and parts during the assembly, installation, set-up, and repair of equipment and machinery.
  • Work in man-lifts with the use of fall protection equipment.
  • Repair and assemble hydraulic equipment and cylinders.
  • Verify and document repairs made.

  • A valid Inter-Provincial or Provincial Journeyperson Millwright certification
  • Mechanical aptitude; excellent problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work closely with other trades and employees
  • Commitment to working safely and creating a safe workplace
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Flexible schedule in order to work days, nights, weekend shifts and Stat holidays
