Job summary

Weyerhaeuser Grande Prairie is seeking a Journeyman Millwright to join the Dryside Maintenance team. This role focuses on preventative and corrective maintenance, ensuring equipment runs smoothly and safely.

Ideal candidates are registered journeyperson millwrights with strong mechanical aptitude, SAP experience, PLC familiarity, and a commitment to safety, teamwork, and continuous skill development within a complex wood products operation.

Qualifications

• Be a Registered Journeyperson Millwright and have Journeyperson Certification.
• High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED).
• Strong mechanical aptitude and interest in learning.
• Computer skills, particularly in SAP, and the ability to achieve competency in Process Logic Control (PLC) systems.
• Problem-solving skills, with the ability to troubleshoot complex issues.
• Experience or aptitude for equipment operations.

Responsibilities

• Preventative/Proactive Maintenance: Ensure equipment runs smoothly and efficiently by performing regular maintenance tasks.
• Corrective Repairs: Address and fix equipment issues promptly to minimize downtime.
• Technical Training: Participate in training as needed to maintain and improve technical proficiency.
• Clean-Up Duties: Maintain a clean and safe work environment.
• Support Reliability Improvements: Contribute to improving equipment reliability and Mill efficiency.
• Flexibility: Adapt to evolving business needs and priorities.
• Apprenticeship: Actively participate in the apprenticeship program for skill development and trade certification.

We have immediate openings for Dryside Weekend Millwrights in Grande Prairie Lumber. The successful individual will report to the Dryside Maintenance Team Leader.

Expectations for the role involve a combination of preventative and corrective maintenance tasks, technical skill development, and adaptability to business needs.

• Candidates with a strong knowledge of Grande Prairie Lumber operations.
• Proven technical and leadership skills.
