Job summary

Weyerhaeuser in Grande Prairie, AB is seeking a Planer Operations Team Member for a full-time role. You will work in a planermill as part of a team, rotating between days and nights (530am-530pm, 530pm-5am) to support safe, continuous production.

Candidates should have a high school diploma or GED and be able to wear PPE in extreme temperatures. Prior lumber grading experience is a plus; willingness to learn and work well in a team is essential.

Qualifications

PLANER OPERATIONS TEAM MEMBER

We are seeking a full-time Planermill Team Member - for an immediate opening at our Grande Prairie, AB, Planermill as part of our Planer Operational Teams , working 2 weeks days and 2 weeks nights (530am-530pm) (530pm-5am)

We are looking for individuals who are committed to safety & have a desire to work in a team environment within a manufacturing facility while maintaining a positive attitude and good work ethic. Experience past or present in lumber grading is preferred.

Key Functions

• Total commitment to working safely, following all safety rules and company policies and procedures.
• Support manufacturing by maximizing plant uptime and providing support for facility systems in a safe manner while contributing to corporate, plant, and departmental goals.
• Work with a team, operating sawmill machinery and processing equipment.
• Machine Center Preventative Maintenance, Lockout/ Tagout as required, Clean Up Duties.
• Strong troubleshooting, problem-solving and communication skills.
• Well-developed planning and organizational abilities.
• Commitment to learning new systems and equipment.
• Natural self-starter.
• Ability and desire to see problems through to completion.

Qualifications

• A high school diploma or GED is required.
• Willingness to wear all required personal protective equipment.
• Willingness to work a rotating shift, including nights and weekends as required.
• Able to work in extreme temperatures, in dusty and noisy conditions, while wearing safety equipment
• Ability to perform the essential job functions of the position, which includes climbing stairs, navigating catwalks, lifting up to 50 pounds, stooping, and bending.
• Must have basic computer skills.
• Must be able to work independently as well as in a group.
• Eligible to work in Canada without sponsorship.
• Ability to work within a team setting.
• Able to perform basic math and use computers.
• Industrial or Manufacturing experience is a plus. Lumber grading experience preferred.
• Experience in a self-directed team environment is a plus.
• A resume detailing education and work history is required for consideration.
• Offers of employment will be conditional upon satisfactory completion of substance testing, background check, and agreement with general terms of work.
