Job summary

BC Hydro is seeking an IT Project Manager 2 (Product Owner – Corporate) to lead product vision, priorities, and roadmaps across multiple business capabilities. You will manage backlogs, champion value, risk, and compliance, and collaborate with business leaders, architects, MSP partners, and delivery teams to align priorities and outcomes.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 10 years of progressive experience leading technology products or portfolios.
  • Bachelor Degree or Diploma in Computer Science, Technology, Business Administration, or Engineering.
  • Proven track record on large, complex technology initiatives and operations sustainment.
  • Strong communication and facilitation skills with multiple stakeholder groups.
  • Experience with project management, delivery, and mobile applications is preferred.

  • The candidate will be responsible for establishing product vision, setting strategic priorities, and developing roadmaps across multiple business capabilities.
  • The candidate must manage and prioritize product backlogs by balancing value, risk, operational stability, compliance, and delivery capacity.
  • The candidate will be responsible for leading prioritization and investment discussions across multiple business capability portfolios and balancing operational priorities, enterprise objectives, regulatory requirements, technology constraints, and available funding.
  • The candidate will be responsible for supporting investment planning and business case development to ensure technology investments support business outcomes and long-term capability roadmaps.
  • The candidate will be responsible for defining product success measures and monitoring and reporting on value realization objectives and adoption outcomes.
  • The candidate must collaborate directly with business leaders, Solution Architects, Managed Service Provider partners, and delivery teams to align priorities and outcomes.
  • The candidate must serve as the primary BC Hydro accountability point for assigned product portfolios and hold service providers accountable for agreed outcomes, commitments, service performance, and value realization.
  • The candidate must lead adoption, sustainment, and continuous improvement activities across assigned business capabilities.
  • The candidate must provide strategic leadership and direction for multiple technology products, capabilities, and service providers that support Corporate business functions.
  • The candidate must serve as the Technology Product Owner and remain accountable for business capability outcomes.
  • The candidate must work in a two-in-a-box model with the Business Product Owner and other stakeholders to translate business outcomes, operational priorities, and user needs into product requirements and delivery priorities.
  • The candidate must manage and maintain the product backlog and prioritize work according to business value, risk, compliance requirements, operational needs, and available capacity.
  • The candidate will be responsible for facilitating discovery, fit-to-standard, design, and planning activities that align business needs with enterprise architecture, product strategy, and sustainable support models.
  • The candidate must work with Managed Technology Service Providers, Solution Architects, business stakeholders, and delivery teams to refine requirements, manage dependencies, and support delivery execution.
  • The candidate must monitor product and delivery performance and proactively identify risks, issues, dependencies, and opportunities for improvement.
  • The candidate must manage stakeholder expectations and clearly communicate product priorities, roadmaps, decisions, and delivery outcomes.
  • The candidate will be responsible for leading readiness, adoption, communications, training, support transition, and sustainment activities with business process owners, change leaders, and delivery teams.
  • The candidate must analyze stakeholder feedback, operational metrics, incidents, risks, and emerging industry trends to identify opportunities for continuous improvement.
  • The candidate must make informed product decisions and trade-offs when business, user, technical, operational, or delivery considerations conflict.
  • The candidate must ensure integrity, consistency, standardization, and sustainable lifecycle management across assigned products, platforms, processes, and data assets.
Job Requirements
  • The candidate must have a minimum of 10 years of progressive experience leading technology products, platforms, portfolios, business capabilities, major technology initiatives, or complex organizational change.
  • The candidate must have a Bachelor Degree or Diploma in Computer Science, Technology, Business Administration, or Engineering.
  • The candidate must have a track record of success working on large, complex technology initiatives and the resulting technology operations and sustainment.
  • The candidate must have strong communication and facilitation skills to proactively engage multiple internal stakeholder groups.
  • The candidate must be able to communicate complex concepts and plans to a variety of stakeholder audiences.
  • The candidate will be preferred if they have experience working with or familiarity with technology related to Project Management, Project Delivery, and Mobile applications.
  • The candidate must have a strong ability to engage with supporting technology teams to solve business problems.
  • The candidate must demonstrate flexibility as a self-starter, maintain a high results orientation, and make decisions quickly.
  • The candidate must demonstrate the ability to work effectively within diverse teams and manage multiple concurrent tasks with varying degrees of complexity.
  • The candidate must have a strong understanding of both technologies and business processes and the ability to integrate technical and functional views.
  • The candidate must have the ability to lead teams and provide direction to achieve successful technology operations and project delivery.
  • The candidate must demonstrate the ability to manage relationships and contracts with IT service providers and outsourcing partners to ensure effective delivery of services that meet business needs.
