- The candidate will be responsible for making asset risk and value-based decisions with Stations Field Operations in a real-time and near real-time environment.
- The candidate will be responsible for developing scope, cost estimates, and risk assessments in collaboration with stakeholders for newly identified work exceeding $15,000.
- The candidate will be responsible for assessing, prioritizing, and approving emergent maintenance expenditures up to $100,000 in accordance with established framework and business rules.
- The candidate will be responsible for preparing capital Investment Summary documents that outline problems/opportunities, associated risks, and recommended scope, schedule, and costs for mitigating identified risks across emergent and future year capital projects.
- The candidate will be responsible for promoting consistent application of maintenance investment strategies and business rules.
- The candidate will serve as the Initiator for Operations managed capital projects when delegated.
- The candidate will be responsible for leading the annual maintenance and Operations managed capital planning process for their respective area while participating in provincial work prioritization for centralized investment decisions and fiscal work plan development.
- The candidate will be responsible for identifying opportunities to integrate and coordinate maintenance and capital investments while working with business partners to initiate maintenance program and capital plan revisions.
- The candidate will be responsible for providing Engineering and Operations with oversight, advice, and guidance for conducting risk assessments for identified work in alignment with BC Hydro’s Enterprise Risk Framework.
- The candidate will be responsible for representing Stations Asset Planning at recurring planning and leadership meetings held at the generating stations.
- The candidate will be responsible for facilitating collaboration between Stations Asset Planning, Engineering, and Operations for process improvements and efficiency opportunities.
- The candidate will be responsible for identifying, promoting, and leading improvements to existing processes, systems, and tools that enhance asset management practices.
Job Requirements
- The candidate must hold a recognized Electrical or Mechanical Engineering degree and be registered, or eligible for immediate registration, as a Professional Engineer with the Engineers and Geoscientists of BC (EGBC).
- The candidate must have a minimum of eight (8) years of relevant and progressive engineering or asset management experience. Applicants who do not meet the full qualifications or have lesser work experience may be considered for a lower-level position.
- The candidate must have experience developing risk and value-based business cases.
- The candidate must have experience assessing benefits and risk in an industrial environment to make operational decisions.
- The candidate must demonstrate strong strategic thinking, leadership, and business planning skills.
- The candidate must be able to develop and maintain effective working relationships with business partners across BC Hydro.
- The candidate must demonstrate a successful, creative, and persistent approach to influencing outcomes and meeting objectives.
