Job summary

BBA is seeking an automation engineer to join our Jonquière team. You will contribute to engineering and programming mandates in automation, instrumentation and control, and help produce deliverables across project phases and site work.

You’ll program PLCs for DCS and HMIs and participate in commissioning at client sites, collaborating with a bilingual team in Canada and abroad.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in automated production engineering or electrical engineering.
• Five years or less of experience in automation or instrumentation.
• Available for short-term assignments at client offices or sites.
• Advanced level of English to collaborate with BBA offices and clients in English-speaking Canadian provinces and internationally.
• Advanced level of French to collaborate with BBA offices and clients in Québec.

Responsibilities

• Help produce deliverables for an automation engineering project cycle.
• Prepare plans, specifications and detailed engineering deliverables (P&ID, layout drawings, I/O loops, motor control diagrams, cables and instruments lists).
• Draft reports, plans and specifications, construction and purchasing estimates and calls for tender.
• Prepare technical data sheets and select instruments (flow, pressure, levels) and control valves.
• Provide technical assistance during construction (electrical and instrumentation).
• Program PLCs for distributed control systems (DCSs) and HMIs.
• Participate in equipment commissioning and performance testing at client sites.

• Help produce various deliverables for an automation engineering project cycle
• Prepare plans and specifications as well as detailed engineering deliverables (piping and instrumentation diagrams, layout drawings, I/O loop and motor control diagrams, lists of cables and instruments, installation details)
• Draft reports, plans and specifications, construction and purchasing estimates and calls for tenders, where required
• Prepare technical data sheets and select instruments (flow, pressure, levels) and control valves
• Provide technical assistance during construction work (electrical and instrumentation)
• Program programmable logic controllers (PLCs) for distributed control systems (DCSs) and human-machine interfaces (HMIs)
• Participate in equipment commissioning and performance testing at client sites

• Interest or relevant experience (five years or less) in automation or instrumentation, including participation in the detailed engineering of a project in the mining or energy sectors
• Available for short-term assignments at c lient offices or sites
• Advanced level of English to collaborate effectively with BBA offices and/or clients in English-speaking Canadian provinces and internationally. The frequency of English use may range from occasional to daily, depending on ongoing projects
• Advanced level of French to collaborate effectively with BBA offices and/or clients in Québec
