Work environment
It is important to note that the work is conducted in a confined/restricted workspace while wearing a headset and having constant exposure to multiple computer screens, noises, and audio for extended periods of time. Furthermore, the work itself may include exposure to violent and/or traumatic events, abusive language, and disturbing graphic material when conducting intercept monitoring activities.Remote working is not a possibility with these position(s).Applicants are encouraged to apply ONLY if they are willing and able to work in Surrey, BC. Intent of the process
Anticipatory.The immediate need is to staff 6 permanent and temporary vacancies.Should a Civilian Member (CM) be found qualified and selected for appointment, the appointment will not result in a change of status to the Public Service (PS) category for the CM.

EDUCATION:

  • A secondary school diploma or an acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience.**acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience must consist of at least 2 of the following:
    Education: successful completion of two years of secondary school and/or Training: successful completion of acceptable level of training courses and/or Experience: a minimum of 2 years work experience

EXPERIENCE:

  • Experience in a work environment using a computer with a software suite, i.e. MS Office, including but not limited to word processing and spreadsheet software.
  • Experience in analyzing information, data or reports.

Applied / assessed at a later date

ABILITY:

  • Ability to prepare synopses and verbatim transcriptions while listening to recorded audio conversations in English.
  • Ability to type/keyboard at 40 net w.p.m. with less than 5% error rate.

EXPERIENCE:

  • Experience applying the Criminal Code, such as Part VI pertaining to the interception of telecommunications.
  • Experience working as an Intercept Monitor Analyst using the Central Communication Intercept System (CenCIS).
  • Experience working on a RCMP project where the safety of a person or a matter of national security has been identified.

ABILITY:

  • Ability to transcribe or summarize audio or text from a language found in either Africa, Americas, Asia, Europe or Oceania into English or French.
