Job summary

Stantec in Canada is seeking an Instrumentation & Controls/Industrial Automation Engineer to join our Energy and Resources consulting team. You will work within a multidisciplinary design group on projects across North America, including mining, oil & gas, power, and energy transition initiatives.

You will lead and support design activities for I&C, PLC/DCS/HMI/SCADA architectures, instrumentation specifications, and industrial networks, collaborating with engineers, designers, and clients.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering from an accredited University.
• 5–10 years of engineering, design, and construction experience in heavy industry, mining, oil & gas, power generation.
• A Professional Engineering license (or the ability to become licensed).

Responsibilities

• Engineering support for multidisciplinary projects from proposals through design phases (PFS, FS, detailed design, construction, commissioning, start-up).
• Site work including investigations, scope validation, construction, commissioning and start-up support.
• Lead the design and development of I&C construction drawings and instrumentation specifications.
• Design PLC/DCS/HMI/SCADA architectures and integration with third‑party systems.
• Develop functional specifications, control philosophies, and safety interlocks for various systems.
• Plan and coordinate project deliverables with clients, vendors, and internal teams.
