Job summary

Saskatchewan Polytechnic Prince Albert Campus is seeking an Instructor for the Electrician program to provide instruction to students and design a student-centered, outcome-based learning environment in both face-to-face and online delivery.

The incumbent will prepare and deliver lessons, develop new curriculum and materials, use digital tools, support diverse learners, and collaborate with external partners, while pursuing professional development.

Qualifications

• Must have Grade 12 or equivalent.
• Interprovincial Journeyperson Certificate in the Construction Electrician trade.
• Two years’ recent/relevant post-journeyperson experience as an Electrician.
• Effective instructional ability.
• Effective interpersonal skills.
• Effective communication skills.
• Demonstrated competence and recent experience in the use of the internet, email, MS Office Suite software and the ability to learn and adapt to changing technology.

Responsibilities

• Provide instruction to students enrolled in the Electrician program.
• Design and implement a student-centered learning environment using an outcome-based approach in either a face-to-face or online delivery mode.
• Prepare and deliver lessons, assignments, lectures and demonstrations using principles of adult learning.
• Develop new curriculum, training aids, and materials as needed.
• Use digital tools proficiently, including typical architectural software and general office applications.
• Be flexible and responsive to learner needs using varied instructional methods.
• Plan and deliver content and learning activities that reflect the values, beliefs, needs, and contributions of a culturally diverse community.
• Provide appropriate evaluation, assessment, and feedback to students.
• Be responsive to accommodation of special learning needs, including equity groups and diverse learners.
• Where required, develop working relationships with appropriate external partners and employers, supporting students in working experience.
• Pursue professional development opportunities to keep current with employer and educational requirements.
• Mentor students related to educational opportunities, industry expectations, and career goals.
• Work co-operatively in an interdependent team environment.
• Attend program and school meetings.
