Job summary

Saskatchewan Polytechnic Moose Jaw Campus is seeking an Instructor for the Electrician program to deliver student-centered instruction in a hybrid or on-site setting.

Responsibilities include planning lessons, developing curriculum, and providing feedback. Candidates should hold an Interprovincial Journeyperson Certificate and Grade 12 or equivalent, with relevant post-journeyperson experience.

Qualifications

• Proven instructional ability for Electrician programs.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Ability to adapt teaching methods to online or face-to-face delivery.

Responsibilities

• Provide instruction to students enrolled in the Electrician program.
• Design and implement a student-centered learning environment for in-person or online delivery.
• Prepare and deliver lessons, assignments, lectures and demonstrations using adult learning principles.
• Develop new curriculum, training aids, and materials as needed.
• Use digital tools proficiently, including MS Office and internet resources.
• Be flexible and responsive to learner needs using varied instructional methods.
• Plan content and activities reflecting diverse communities and equity considerations.
• Provide evaluation and feedback to students.
• Support accommodation of diverse learners and equity groups.
• Develop external partnerships to support student work experiences.
• Pursue professional development to stay current with educational requirements.
• Mentor students regarding opportunities and career goals.

Job Duties / Qualifications, Skills and Abilities (QSA)

• Provide instruction to students enrolled in the Electrician program.
• Design and implement a student-centered learning environment using an outcome-based approach in either a face-to-face or online delivery mode.
• Prepare and deliver lessons, assignments, lectures and demonstrations using principles of adult learning.
• Develop new curriculum, training aids, and materials as needed.
• Use digital tools proficiently, including general office applications.
• Be flexible and responsive to learner needs using varied instructional methods.
• Plan and deliver content and learning activities that reflect the values, beliefs, needs, and contributions of a culturally diverse community.
• Provide appropriate evaluation, assessment, and feedback to students.
• Be responsive to accommodation of special learning needs, including equity groups and diverse learners.
• Where required, develop working relationships with appropriate external partners and employers, supporting students in working experience.
• Pursue professional development opportunities to keep current with employer and educational requirements.
• Mentor students related to educational opportunities, industry expectations, and career goals.

Specific Accountabilities

Duties

Required Qualifications, Skills and Abilities (QSA)

• Grade 12 or equivalent.
• Interprovincial Journeyperson Certificate in the Construction Electrician trade.
• Two years’ recent/relevant post-journeyperson experience as an Electrician.
• Effective instructional ability.
• Effective interpersonal skills.
• Demonstrated competence and recent experience in the use of the internet, email, MS Office Suite software and the ability to learn and adapt to changing technology.
• Ability to function as a team member in an ever-changing environment.
