Job summary

Saskatchewan Polytechnic Prince Albert Campus invites applications for a Full-Time Classification Instructor to lead instruction in the Electrician program. You will design and deliver lessons, develop curriculum, and evaluate students in person or online while applying outcome-based and adult-learning principles.

Qualifications

• Grade 12 or equivalent.
• Interprovincial Journeyperson Certificate in the Construction Electrician trade.
• Two years’ recent/relevant post-journeyperson experience as an Electrician.
• Effective instructional ability.
• Effective interpersonal skills.
• Proficient in the internet, email, MS Office and able to learn new technology.
• Ability to function well in a team.

Responsibilities

• Provide instruction to students enrolled in the Electrician program.
• Design and implement a student-centered learning environment using an outcome-based approach in either a face-to-face or online delivery mode.
• Prepare and deliver lessons, assignments, lectures and demonstrations using principles of adult learning.
• Develop new curriculum, training aids, and materials as needed.
• Use digital tools proficiently, including typical architectural software and general office applications.
• Be flexible and responsive to learner needs with varied instructional methods.
• Plan and deliver content and learning activities reflecting the values of a culturally diverse community.
• Provide appropriate evaluation, assessment and feedback to students.
• Be responsive to accommodation of special learning needs, including equity groups and diverse learners.
• Develop relationships with external partners and employers to support student experience.
• Pursue professional development to stay current with employer and educational requirements.
• Mentor students regarding opportunities, industry expectations, and career goals.
• Work cooperatively in an interdependent team.
• Attend program and school meetings.
