Job summary

The Good Samaritan Society in Vernon, BC is seeking a part-time cook to prepare and bake meals for residents, staff and visitors. You will ensure high sanitation and follow modified/therapeutic diet guidelines while coordinating meal production.

A Food Safe Level 1 certificate is required and Red Seal or Journeyman Cook is preferred. Hours are 12:00–18:00, starting November 9, 2026, with a wage of $29.24 per hour.

Qualifications

• Red Seal or Journeyman Cook preferred.
• Two to three years institutional cooking experience.
• Knowledge of quality food standards and quantity controls.
• Food Safe Level 1 certificate required for BC employees (or equivalent for Alberta).
• Experience working with the elderly is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Prepare, cook and bake food for residents, staff and visitors while maintaining high sanitation standards.
• Assist in coordinating meal production and quality/quantity control.
• Participate in the quality assurance program and departmental meetings.
