Job description

Our client is a growing North American distributor and solutions provider serving the telecommunications, connectivity and critical infrastructure markets. With an extensive portfolio of technical products and solutions, the organization supports customers responsible for building, maintaining and expanding communications infrastructure across Canada.

As the business continues to expand its Canadian presence, it is seeking a driven and customer-focused Inside Sales Representative to join its team in the Greater Toronto Area.

The successful candidate will be responsible for developing customer relationships, identifying revenue opportunities, supporting key accounts and working closely with field sales, operations and supply chain teams to deliver an exceptional customer experience.

The ideal candidate combines strong commercial instincts with a high level of organization, responsiveness and follow-through. You are comfortable working in a fast-paced distribution environment, enjoy learning technical products and naturally look for opportunities to grow customer relationships.

Responsibilities
Customer & Account Management
  • Serve as a primary point of contact for assigned customers, responding to inquiries and providing timely, professional sales support.
  • Develop strong relationships with existing accounts while identifying opportunities to expand customer spend and product penetration.
  • Understand customer requirements, applications, timelines, and project needs to recommend appropriate products and solutions.
  • Maintain consistent communication with customers throughout the quotation, order and delivery process.
  • Build credibility as a knowledgeable, dependable resource for customers in technical and infrastructure-focused markets.
  • Follow up on open quotations, opportunities, backorders and upcoming customer requirements.
  • Identify opportunities to cross-sell and upsell complementary products and solutions.
  • Manage incoming sales inquiries and convert customer requirements into revenue opportunities.
  • Develop assigned accounts by gaining a deeper understanding of customer needs, purchasing patterns and upcoming projects.
  • Identify opportunities to increase share of wallet across existing customer relationships.
  • Re-engage existing accounts as opportunities arise and support continued customer retention.
  • Support regional and national sales initiatives, product introductions and customer programs.
  • Maintain visibility into active sales opportunities and help move customer requirements efficiently through the sales cycle.
  • Contribute to revenue, gross margin, account-growth and customer-retention objectives.
Quotations & Order Management
  • Prepare accurate and timely customer quotations based on product requirements, availability, pricing and delivery expectations.
  • Enter and manage customer orders with a high degree of accuracy.
  • Monitor open quotations and establish appropriate follow-up to ensure customer requirements are addressed.
  • Coordinate product availability, lead times, substitutions and delivery requirements with internal teams.
  • Communicate with customers regarding inventory availability, order status, shipping timelines and potential delays.
  • Help resolve order, pricing, product and delivery issues quickly and professionally.
  • Maintain accurate records of customer interactions, quotations, opportunities and sales activity within the company's CRM and business systems.
Internal Collaboration
  • Partner closely with Outside Sales Representatives to support account strategies and territory growth.
  • Work collaboratively with purchasing, operations, warehouse, logistics and customer service teams to meet customer requirements.
  • Coordinate with technical resources when customers require additional product or application expertise.
  • Share customer intelligence, competitive activity, market trends and emerging opportunities with the broader sales organization.
  • Assist field sales with account research, quotations, follow-up and opportunity management.
  • Participate in sales meetings, product training and supplier-led educational sessions.
Requirements
  • 2+ years of experience in inside sales, account management, customer service or business development, preferably within a B2B environment.
  • Experience within telecommunications, wireless infrastructure, broadband, electrical distribution, electronics, industrial distribution, utilities or another technical product environment is strongly preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to build and maintain long-term customer relationships.
  • Strong commercial instincts with the ability to identify cross-selling, upselling and account-development opportunities.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple customers, quotations, orders and priorities simultaneously.
  • High degree of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Comfortable learning technical products, terminology and applications.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and a customer-first mindset.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office; experience working with CRM, ERP, quotation or order-management systems is an asset.
  • Self-motivated, accountable and comfortable working toward individual and team sales objectives.

Ideallly,

  • You are a relationship-oriented sales professional who enjoys being close to the customer. You ask the right questions, understand customer requirements and look for ways to provide additional value throughout the relationship.
  • You are equally comfortable developing an existing account, preparing a detailed quotation, following up on an outstanding order or partnering with an outside salesperson on a strategic customer opportunity.
  • You thrive in an environment where speed, accuracy, technical knowledge and customer service all matter. You take ownership of your work, follow through on commitments and understand that consistent relationship-building creates long-term sales growth.
  • Experience selling technical products is valuable, but curiosity and the ability to learn are equally important. You should be comfortable developing an understanding of products used within communications networks and other infrastructure applications.

  • Join a growing sales organization with significant opportunity in the Canadian market.

  • Build a career path within a larger North American organization.
  • Take ownership of customer relationships and directly influence revenue growth.
