Job summary

Vretta is seeking an Information Security Analyst to join our Systems and Security team in Canada. The role focuses on monitoring security alerts, investigating incidents, and maintaining cybersecurity standards to support student success and a secure learning environment.

The ideal candidate has 1–3 years of cybersecurity experience, knowledge of security frameworks, and hands-on experience with security tools and threat intelligence platforms.

Qualifications

  • 1–3 years of experience in cybersecurity or related fields.
  • Strong understanding of cybersecurity principles, technologies, and best practices.
  • Knowledge of security frameworks and standards (ISO 27001, SOC 1, SOC 2, GDPR).
  • Familiarity with security tools and technologies (firewalls, IDS/IPS, SIEM, antivirus).
  • In-depth understanding of threat intelligence platforms.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor, investigate, and remediate security alerts on the threat intelligence platform.
  • Coordinate investigations into security incidents and provide timely responses.
  • Maintain and implement risk mitigation measures.
  • Coordinate regular vulnerability assessments to identify and prioritize weaknesses.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to remediate vulnerabilities and ensure a secure computing environment.
  • Participate in disaster recovery planning and incident response activities.
  • Use analytic tools to identify emerging threat patterns and vulnerabilities.
  • Contribute to root cause analysis with engineers and escalation teams for incidents.
  • Provide recommendations for enhancing the overall security posture.
  • Stay informed about emerging threats and vulnerabilities to address risks.
  • Assist in design and implementation of security infrastructure.
  • Collaborate to integrate security controls into systems and networks.
  • Assist in development and enforcement of cybersecurity policies and procedures.
  • Conduct compliance assessments to ensure adherence to security standards.
  • Maintain endpoint compliance by publishing patches.
  • Oversee and maintain device inventory.
  • Champion a culture of security awareness and best practices.

Requirements

  • Familiarity with security tools and technologies (firewalls, IDS/IPS, SIEM, antivirus, etc.).
  • In-depth understanding of threat intelligence platforms (e.g., Arctic Wolf, etc.).
  • Knowledge of cybersecurity trends, threats, mitigations.
  • Must demonstrate a learning mindset with an eagerness and interest in technology.
