Job summary

Clean Harbors Corporate - CAN is seeking Oilsands Sandblasters or Blasting Machine Operators for the CNRL Albian site in Fort McMurray, AB. This role demands a commitment to health and safety, and the ability to work both day and night shifts in a 14/14 rotation.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Ensure health and safety compliance in all tasks.
  • Operate blast pot and maintain blasting equipment.
  • Complete daily safety and operational paperwork.

Job description

Job Overview

Clean Harbors is seeking Oilsands Sandblasters or Blasting Machine Operators for the CNRL Albian site in Fort McMurray, AB. This is a 362 Teamsters Union position with a full rate of $35.81/hour.

Responsibilities
  • Ensure health and safety is the number one priority by complying with all safe work practices, policies, and processes.
  • Remove dirt, paint, grease, debris, and other built‑up material from surfaces.
  • Set up and operate blast pot, spray pump, or similar equipment.
  • Fill blast pots and maintain blasting equipment, performing repairs as needed.
  • Assist with painting, spray application, or brush & roll as required.
  • Problem‑solve in real time and troubleshoot various equipment.
  • Complete all required paperwork.
  • Perform field‑level risk assessments.
  • Attend daily safety meetings.
  • Work as part of a team with customers, coworkers, and supervisors.
  • Perform other duties and tasks assigned by management.
Qualifications
  • Class 5 driver’s license with a clean driver’s abstract required; Class 3 is an asset.
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience in an abrasive blasting setting; familiarity with mobile blast equipment, power tools, and safe operating procedures.
  • Experience working in the oilsands is an asset.
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs regularly throughout the day.
  • Must be able to work at heights and operate JLG & crane with man basket.
  • Valid First Aid, H2S Alive, and CSO certificates (must provide proof prior to first day; training can be arranged).
  • Work independently under minimal supervision within a safety‑focused team environment.
  • Availability to work day & night shifts on a 14/14 rotation.
  • Capable of working outdoors in various weather conditions.
