Job summary

City of North Bay is seeking an Industrial Millwright to maintain and repair water and wastewater facilities and equipment. You will perform mechanical and electrical work, follow safety policies, and complete required reports, ensuring reliable operations.

The role requires Ontario Millwright certification, MOE OIT/Water & Wastewater Level I within 3 months, and a valid Ontario G license. On-call rotation and emergency work are a must in this unionized environment.

Qualifications

• Minimum three (3) years in mechanical and electrical repair operations.
• Knowledge of OHSA and safety regulations applicable to the work.
• Ability to identify and correct unsafe conditions.
• Clerical ability to complete necessary reports.

Responsibilities

• Under the direction of the Water Wastewater Facilities Supervisor, performs mechanical repairs and preventive maintenance to water and wastewater facilities and equipment.
• Responsible for the efficient use and control of materials, parts and equipment while adhering to City Safety Policies and Procedures and reporting as required.

Under the direction of the Water Wastewater Facilities Supervisor, performs mechanical repairs and preventive maintenance to Water and Wastewater facilities and equipment. Responsible for the efficient use and control of materials, parts and equipment while adhering to City Safety Policies and Procedures as well as the Ontario Occupational Health and Safety Act and Regulations. Completes necessary reports.

Qualifications

• Certification as Industrial Millwright in Ontario
• Must have in-depth knowledge & experience in mechanical & electrical equipment repair and installation with minimum three (3) years experience in mechanical and electrical repairs operations
• Demonstrated ability to identify and correct unsafe conditions related to work activities
• Understanding of the Occupational Health and Safety Act and regulations applying to the work activity
• Sufficient clerical ability to complete necessary reports
• Knowledge of operating standards, practices & procedures for water/wastewater treatment plants an asset
• Ability to provide and apply practical problem-solving skills
• Must hold or obtain MOE OIT within 3 months and is required to achieve Water and Wastewater Treatment and Distribution Level I certification
• Computer skills/knowledge for process control and data entry; record keeping skills
• Ability to perform manual labour
• On-call availability
• Must possess a valid Ontario Class “G” driver’s license.
