Industrial Mechanic (Millwright) – 433A

We are currently seeking a skilled Industrial Mechanic (Millwright) to join a manufacturing team. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, repairing, and installing industrial machinery and mechanical equipment to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient production operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Install, align, dismantle, relocate, and maintain industrial machinery and mechanical equipment.
- Troubleshoot and repair mechanical systems, including hydraulic, pneumatic, and power transmission components.
- Maintain equipment such as pumps, conveyors, gearboxes, and automated production/packaging equipment.
- Perform preventive and corrective maintenance to minimize downtime and improve equipment reliability.
- Read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, schematics, and equipment manuals.
- Perform precision equipment alignment and basic fabrication or modification of parts.
- Operate lifting and hoisting equipment such as cranes and jacks when required.
- Use machine tools such as lathes and grinders for basic part fabrication or modification.
- Maintain accurate maintenance records and documentation.
- Work closely with Production and Maintenance teams to support efficient plant operations.
- Follow all Lockout/Tagout (LOTO), confined space, PPE, and other safety procedures.
- Participate in troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Perform other related duties as required.
Qualifications
- Industrial Mechanic (Millwright) 433A certification – Red Seal preferred/required.
- Completion of a recognized Millwright apprenticeship program.
- 2–4 years of experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment.
- Strong mechanical troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Good knowledge of hydraulics, pneumatics, and power transmission systems.
- Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings, blueprints, and schematics.
- Experience with equipment installation, alignment, repair, and preventive maintenance.
- Basic understanding of electrical components such as motors, sensors, and control systems.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
- Ability to work safely in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Assets
- Experience working with heavy chain conveyor systems.
- Experience with automated manufacturing or packaging equipment.
- Familiarity with PLCs and automated systems.
- Experience using a CMMS.
- Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, Root Cause Analysis, TPM/RCM, or continuous improvement.
- Forklift, crane, rigging and hoisting experience.
- Training in hydraulics, pneumatics, vibration analysis, or predictive maintenance.
- WHMIS, Working at Heights, LOTO, Confined Space, and First Aid/CPR certifications.
- Gas Technician 1 (G.1) certification.
Working Conditions
- Full-time straight day shift.
- Manufacturing plant environment with exposure to machinery, noise, and dust.
- Position requires standing, walking, climbing, lifting, and working with tools and equipment.
- May occasionally require working in confined spaces.
- Overtime may be required based on operational needs.
- No travel required.
