Job summary

Meadow Valley Meats in Chilliwack, BC, is hiring two (2) full-time, permanent Industrial Butchers (NOC 94141) to start immediately at our plant located at 8966 Nowell St., Chilliwack, BC.

Role requires willingness to work overtime, some weekends and shift work. Salary is $25.00–$26.00 per hour, with annual reviews. Benefits include extended health and dental, vision coverage, and safety boot allowance. English is the language of work.

Qualifications

• Minimum 1 year of work experience in industrial butcher/meat processing setting.
• Overtime, some weekends, days and shift work may be required.

Responsibilities

• Slaughter livestock using stunning devices and knives.
• Remove skin, fat, blemishes from carcasses or meat portions.
• Remove viscera and other inedible parts from carcasses.
• Split carcasses into smaller portions to facilitate handling.
• May remove bones from meat and cut carcasses into primal cuts for processing or packaging.
• Cut meat into specific cuts for institutional or wholesale use.
• Follow all food safety and workplace safety protocols.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:

The position is permanent and full-time. Required to work overtime, some weekends, days, shift work, as required.

Salary:

$25.00 - $26.00 hourly - Wages are reviewed annually, incremental increase may be given based on performance.

MAJOR JOB DUTIES:

• May slaughter cattle, calves and sheep as prescribed by religious laws
• Remove skin, excess fat, bruises or other blemishes from carcasses or meat portions
• Remove viscera and other inedible parts from carcasses
• Split carcasses into smaller portions to facilitate handling

• May cut carcasses or sides or quarters of carcasses into primal cuts for further cutting, processing or packaging
• May cut meat into specific cuts for institutional, commercial or other wholesale use
