Job summary

Conestoga Meats is hiring for an Industrial Butcher on day and afternoon shifts. You will slaughter livestock, remove viscera, trim and portion carcasses, and operate knives and saw in a fast-paced, physically demanding environment.

We offer competitive wages ($25.69–$28.35/hr), comprehensive benefits, an afternoon shift premium, 40 hours per week, weekly pay, and on-site training. Candidates with 3+ months in butchery or related work are encouraged to apply.

• 3+ months of experience in retail/wholesale or industrial butchery.
• Some High School education.

Responsibilities

• Slaughter livestock.
• Remove viscera and other inedible parts from carcasses.

• Split carcasses into smaller portions to facilitate handling.

Job Description:

• Slaughter livestock
• Remove viscera and other inedible parts from carcasses
• Clean and trim carcasses
• Split carcasses into smaller portions to facilitate handling
• Use of knives and saw
• Remove excess fat, bruises or other blemishes from carcass or meat portions
• Working with animal blood and a variety of parts from a butchered animal

Work Conditions and Environment:

• Standing for extended periods
• Slaughter house, meat processing and packing establishment

Qualifications/Requirements:

• Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
• Some High School education
• Commitment to safety and quality processes
• Should have (3 months plus) previous experience in retail/wholesale or industrial butchery and/or other knife skills.
• Works well with others
• Critical thinking skills
• Excellent hand-eye coordination and decision-making skills.
• Basic English communication skills
• Basic security clearance

These positions are required for day (starting times vary from 6:00 am - 7:00 am) and afternoon shift (starting times vary from 3:00pm - 4:00 pm) Monday – Friday

We anticipate 20 vacancies and the start date would be as soon as possible.
