Job summary

Kootenay-Columbia School District No. 20 in Castlegar invites applications for a 0.4 FTE Indigenous Support Teacher at Kinnaird Elementary School. This temporary assignment runs immediately through December 18, 2026, with possible extension.

The successful candidate will embed Indigenous knowledge and perspectives in student learning, collaborate with classroom teachers, and connect with families to strengthen home–school–community supports.

Qualifications

• BC Certification required.
• Bachelor of Education or equivalent.
• Experience with a variety of learning management systems.
• Demonstrated ability to use a variety of teaching and assessment strategies.
• Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a team environment.
• Demonstrated ability to support classroom teachers with embedding Indigenous knowledge and perspectives in student learning experiences for all students.
• Demonstrated ability to implement programs and services to assist with academic, personal, and social-emotional needs.
• Demonstrated ability to connect with families to build effective communication between home, school, and community supports.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal and classroom management skills.
