Job summary

Comox Valley Schools - School District 71 invites applications for an Indigenous Support Worker - Elementary. The position is a temporary role, 27.95 hours per week, Monday through Friday, with a pay rate of $31.95 per hour plus 16.3% in lieu of benefits.

The successful candidate will support Indigenous students and families, promote Indigenous ways of knowing, and collaborate with school staff to provide culturally responsive educational experiences.

Qualifications

• Grade 12 education with 30+ post-secondary Indigenous studies or Human Services credits.
• Food Safe Level 1 is required.
• Three years of recent experience with Indigenous students, families and communities.

Responsibilities

• Provide culturally safe, inclusive support to Indigenous students and families.
• Coordinate with teachers, counselors and community agencies to advocate for Indigenous students.
• Maintain data and records to support program budgeting and reporting.
• Support supervision of students as needed and participate in Indigenous Education Services activities.
