Job summary

WorkSafeBC is seeking an Indigenous Cultural Navigator and Engagement Specialist to join the Indigenous Relations team. The role focuses on building respectful relationships with Indigenous workers, employers, service providers and communities, helping navigate WorkSafeBC systems with cultural respect.

You will collaborate across teams, identify barriers to access, and support improvements to programs and services for Indigenous clients in BC. Hybrid work with BC-wide responsibilities is offered.

Qualifications

  • Degree in a related field.
  • Minimum of 6 years of experience in Indigenous relations, consulting, prevention, or disability management.
  • Demonstrates a deep understanding of Indigenous issues across BC.

Responsibilities

  • Build and sustain respectful, reciprocal relationships with Indigenous workers, employers, service providers, and communities.
  • Support Indigenous clients in navigating WorkSafeBC systems (Claims, Prevention, and Assessments).
  • Collaborate across internal teams to support Indigenous clients through complex or sensitive situations.
  • Identify barriers and service gaps impacting Indigenous clients and contribute to solutions.
  • Provide guidance to internal staff on culturally respectful approaches when working with Indigenous clients.
  • Lead or support Indigenous engagement initiatives and projects.
  • Model expected organizational behaviours: respectful, collaborative, accountable and forward-thinking.
