Job summary

Medicine Hat Public School Division is seeking an Educational Assistant to join Crescent Heights High School on a 0.67 FTE probationary/permanent basis. The role involves flexible in-class and small-group support to help students access learning and to implement individual support and behaviour plans.

The successful candidate will collaborate with the classroom teacher and learning team, promote positive behaviour and inclusivity, and participate in supervision duties.

Qualifications

• Educational Assistant Certificate or equivalent experience preferred.
• Experience working with students in a school setting.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills.
• Background in child and youth care counselling or related field may be an asset.

Responsibilities

• Provide flexible in-class and small-group supports to help students access learning.
• Support implementation of individual support and behaviour plans.
• Work collaboratively with the classroom teacher and learning team.
• Support positive behaviour, self-regulation, and inclusive practices.
• Supervision duties (recess, classroom, lunch, etc.)
• Experience with diverse needs is an asset.
• Building strong relationships with students and supporting their learning in an inclusive setting.
• Assist and support students through individual support plans and/or behaviour support plans.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with students and adults.
• Work as part of a team and follow classroom programs.
