Job summary

Medicine Hat Public School Division is seeking an Educational Assistant to join Crescent Heights High School on a 0.67 FTE probationary/permanent basis. The role involves flexible in-class and small-group support to help students access learning and to implement individual support and behaviour plans.

The successful candidate will collaborate with the classroom teacher and learning team, promote positive behaviour and inclusivity, and participate in supervision duties.

Qualifications

• Educational Assistant Certificate or equivalent experience preferred.
• Experience working with students in a school setting.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills.
• Background in child and youth care counselling or related field may be an asset.

Responsibilities

POSITION SUMMARY

Medicine Hat Public School Division is recruiting an Educational Assistant (EA) working in a 0.67 FTE (20 hours per week) probationary/permanent position working at Crescent Heights High School.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Skills & Requirements

• Provide flexible in-class and small-group supports to help students access learning.
• Support implementation of individual support and behaviour plans.
• Work collaboratively with the classroom teacher and learning team.
• Support positive behaviour, self-regulation, and inclusive practices.
• Supervision duties (recess, classroom, lunch, etc.)
• Experience working with students with diverse needs would be an asset
• Preference will be given to applicants with an understanding of childhood development
• Building strong relationships with students, helping students learn, and seeing the best in every student in an inclusive school setting
• Assisting and supporting students through individual support plans and/or behaviour support plans

• Work as part of a team, take direction and follow student and classroom programs.
• Enthusiastic and motivated to help students succeed
• Ability to work in a flexible learning environment and make adjustments for classroom or individual student needs

• Education or experience in child and youth care counselling or social work or experience working in child and youth behaviour may be considered an asset.
