Job summary

Qualifications

  • Canadian residency and be legally entitled to work in Canada.
  • A valid BC teaching certificate or Independent School Certification qualifying criteria.
  • Experience, education, and/or training with diverse learners (ADHD, ASD, SLDs, mental health).
  • Experience/education in inquiry-based learning pedagogies and universal design for learning at the secondary level.
  • Experience in experiential learning, trauma-informed practices, intercultural competencies, coaching or other pastoral care modalities.
  • Diverse perspectives, voices, and worldviews including Indigenous, local, and global populations.
  • Knowledge of BC Ministry of Education curriculum, assessment, and reporting expectations.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
  • Strong self-awareness, self-management and self-advocacy.
  • Fluent communication skills in English, oral and written.
  • Strong organizational, communication, administrative and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficient knowledge of educational and assistive technologies and applications.
  • Planning, delivery, assessment and reporting for courses aligned with BC and/or school curriculum.
  • Accommodate inclusive education needs of students, including IEPs.
  • Support development and tracking of IEPs as part of the collaborative team.
  • Serve as Inclusive Education Plan case manager for a group of students.
  • Regular communication with colleagues, students, and parents/guardians.
  • Utilize Google Classroom, Google Workspace, and MySchool platforms.

Responsibilities

  • Teach 4 courses per semester.
  • Support school-wide experiences on Flex Fridays.
  • Serve as advisor (case manager) to 5–6 students.
  • Collaborate with the KGMS multi-disciplinary team to develop and facilitate IEPs.
  • Front-load, reinforce and extend academic and social learning.
  • Contribute to warm and nurturing school culture and student belonging.
  • Regular communication with colleagues, students, and parents/guardians.
  • Utilize Google Classroom, Google Workspace, and MySchool platforms.
  • Other duties as required.
