Job summary

Heartland Mutual Insurance Company is seeking an experienced Business Systems Analyst/Underwriter to design underwriting and business development solutions within a Property & Casualty framework.

You will collaborate with Underwriting & Business Development teams to document improvements, define Guidewire requirements, and support testing while maintaining manuals and filings. A hybrid work model and Canada-wide scope offer flexibility and growth opportunities.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years in Property & Casualty insurance in a business systems analyst or underwriting-related role.
• GuideWire Policy Center Certification is an asset.
• Proven ability to create and deliver insurance solutions, especially underwriting rules and workflow.

Responsibilities

• Design underwriting and business development solutions and requirements to deliver tangible value.
• Collaborate with Underwriting & Business Development to document business and system improvements, including rules and workflow.
• Provide business specifications for actuarial rate reviews.
• Create IT requirements for Guidewire Policy Center suite and integrations, with clarification on business intent.
• Support testing (EBT, UAT, production) for Guidewire changes and provide test coverage.
• Coach underwriting and business development on system functionality and business intent; create resources/manuals.
• Prioritize defects and changes, assess business impact and scheduling implications.
• Maintain underwriting manuals and rating guides; complete non-rating filings with provincial regulators.
• Identify and report on incorrectly rated policies and industry trends; monitor new business and adjust risk appetite via rules.
