Placements24 is seeking an Addiction Counsellor in Kimberley to support individuals overcoming substance use and related challenges. The role blends remote therapy with in-person sessions and group facilitation within a collaborative multidisciplinary team.

You will assess needs, tailor recovery plans, and deliver individual and group counseling using evidence-based approaches, while maintaining confidential records and supporting relapse prevention efforts.

Qualifications

• Relevant qualification in counseling, social work, psychology, or a related field.
• Professional registration with a recognized counseling body (e.g., HPCSA).
• Proven experience in addiction counseling or substance abuse treatment.
• Strong knowledge of addiction dynamics, treatment modalities, and recovery principles.
• Excellent communication, empathy, and motivational interviewing skills.

Responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive assessments of substance abuse patterns and co-occurring mental health issues.
• Develop and implement individualized treatment and recovery plans.
• Provide individual and group counseling sessions using evidence-based therapeutic approaches.
• Offer crisis intervention and support to clients experiencing withdrawal or acute distress.
• Educate clients and their families on addiction, recovery processes, and relapse prevention strategies.
• Maintain accurate and confidential client records and progress reports.
