Job description

The Human Resources Officer (HRO) is essential to the daily operations and well-being of ASUS, overseeing all personnel-related matters to ensure a positive and meaningful experience for volunteers and employees. They provide support on conflict resolution, equitable hiring, training, evaluations, and organizational behavior while continuously improving policies for transparency and inclusivity. Leading a team of two deputies and two directors, the HRO collaborates across all commissions and offices to foster a safe and accountable environment. Ideal candidates are strong communicators, impartial decision-makers, and skilled in conflict resolution.

Time Commitment and Remuneration

10 month-term from May 1st, 2025 to April 30th, 2026. Payouts will be in accordance with the Human Resources Policy Salary Grid 10.03.01 which can be accessed here: Click here

Time Commitment and Responsibilities

  • Office Hours and Meetings: Hold 15 office hours weekly, attend all weekly Council meetings, the ASUS General Assembly, and meet weekly with the ASUS Executives.
  • Planning and Budgeting: Submit a formal strategic plan and budget during the summer to guide Society initiatives.
  • Volunteer Management and Training: Execute ArtSci Volunteer Week in the Fall, coordinate mandatory training sessions for all Executives, Council members, Chairs, Directors, and Deputies, and ensure training aligns with Society policies.
  • Conflict Resolution and Hiring Oversight: Act as a confidential mediator for internal disputes, oversee hiring processes, and ensure compliance with the ASUS Human Resources Policy & Procedures Manual.
  • Administrative Responsibilities: Maintain records of volunteer roles, oversee Fall and Winter Hiring Reports, facilitate honoraria reviews with the General Manager, and prepare a comprehensive transition manual for the successor.
