Position: Human Resources Manager

Employment type: Full-time

Eligibility: Must reside in Western Canada (preferably Alberta) and be legally entitled to work in Canada.

Job Summary

The Human Resources (HR) Manager oversees the HR department's operations, aligning strategies with corporate goals. Responsibilities include developing HR policies, managing programs and budgets, ensuring compliance with Canadian legislation, and leading organizational initiatives in employee relations, workforce development, and Occupational Health and Safety (OHS). Knowledge of payroll processes, year-end reporting, and employer remittances such as WCB, EHT, and HET is essential.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Leadership & Strategy: Lead HR strategy development and implementation.
  2. Executive Leadership: Contribute to overall business strategy as part of the Executive Leadership Team.
  3. Team Management: Manage and develop the HR team.
  4. Policy Development: Develop and implement HR policies ensuring legal compliance.
  5. Talent Management: Oversee recruitment, evaluations, promotions, and disciplinary actions.
  6. Training & Development: Organize employee training to enhance skills and ensure safety standards.
  7. Employee Relations: Resolve conflicts and promote a positive work environment.
  8. HR & OHS Compliance: Ensure activities meet legal and organizational standards.
  9. Occupational Health & Safety: Develop and monitor safety programs, collaborate with JHSC.
  10. Budget Oversight: Manage HR budgets efficiently.
  11. Advisory Role: Guide management and staff on HR and OHS matters, including payroll and compliance.
Requirements
  • Post-secondary degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field.
  • At least 2 years in a managerial HR role and 3 years as an HR generalist.
  • Professional HR certification (e.g., CHRP, CHRL); JHSC certification is a bonus.
  • Strong knowledge of Canadian employment and OHS laws.
  • Experience with employee relations, recruitment, compensation, and safety programs.
  • Proficiency with HR systems and software.
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills.
