Responsibilities:
- Provide strategic and operational HR guidance to senior leadership and department managers.
- Oversee and enhance recruitment, onboarding, training, compensation, performance management, and career development programs.
- Maintain and update HR policies, procedures, and the Employee Handbook in compliance with changing legislation and organizational needs.
- Act as a trusted advisor on employee relations issues, conflict resolution, and policy interpretation.
- Lead employee engagement initiatives and coach leaders on best practices in performance and people management.
- Administer benefits and compensation programs; liaise with external providers.
- Ensure compliance with employment legislation, anti-discrimination laws, and internal standards.
- Manage confidential employee records and ensure data integrity in HRMS and payroll systems.
- Coordinate and support performance review cycles and identify strategies to enhance employee performance.
- Participate in workplace investigations, including those related to harassment and safety, in coordination with HSE.
- Oversee the HR/Payroll function and lead a small team of HR personnel.
- Ensure all HR documentation aligns with ISO and COR standards.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Minimum 5 years of progressive HR experience, with at least 2 in a managerial role.
- Valid designation and/or membership with CPHR or equivalent professional body.
- Proven ability to handle complex employee relations and provide strategic HR counsel.
- Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities.
- Advanced proficiency in HRMS and payroll systems.
- Solid understanding of Alberta employment standards and workplace safety legislation.
- High level of integrity, confidentiality, and professionalism.
