Job summary

McDougall Energy is seeking an experienced Human Resources Manager in Goderich, Ontario to lead HR services and programs aligned with company objectives.

The role supports the Operations Team, manages recruitment for retail roles, and drives onboarding, employee relations, and compliance with ESA. Candidates should have 2–5 years in HR management and strong communication in a fast-paced setting.

Qualifications

• 2 to 5 years of progressive HR management experience.
• Knowledge of the Employment Standards Act (ESA) and scheduling practices.
• Post-secondary education with a focus in HR Management.
• Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to build rapport and maintain relationships.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and adjust to changing priorities.
• Knowledge of the transportation industry is an asset.

Responsibilities

• Provide HR support to managers and employees for day-to-day inquiries and operations.
• Lead recruitment and selection for retail roles, including postings, descriptions, interviews, references and offers.
• Assist with orientation programs and training plans for onboarding.
• Provide HR guidance on performance, discipline, documentation, compliance, engagement, and retention.
• Conduct workplace investigations and present findings with recommendations.
• Partner with Health & Safety on compliance and safety initiatives.
• Maintain HR records in line with legal requirements.
• Take on other duties or special projects as needed.

ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY:

McDougall Energy is looking for an experienced and energetic team member to fill the position of Human Resources Manager in our Goderich locationreporting to the Director, Human Resources. This role will be accountable to support our Operations Team and deliver HR services and programs in alignment with company objectives.

Responsibilities include:

• Providing support to managers and employees for all day-to-day related HR inquiries and daily operations of the business
• Leading the recruitment and selection process including job postings, position descriptions, interview, references, and employment offers for all retail roles
• Assisting with the development and implementation of orientation programs and customized training plans, providing a positive on-boarding experience for our employees
• Providing HR guidance and support to managers on employee performance, discipline, documentation, compliance, employee engagement and retention
• Conduct workplace investigations, present findings and make recommendations
• Partner with Health & Safety to support compliance and workplace safety initiatives
• Maintain HR records and documentation in accordance with legal and organizational requirements
• Other duties or special projects may be required in support of the business

ABOUT YOU:

The ideal candidate will have:

• 2 to 5 years of progressive experience in a manager role covering areas of HR
• Knowledge of the transportation industry would be considered an asset
• Working knowledge of Employment Standards Act (ESA) lated to scheduling practices, hours of work, meal breaks, and rest periods to ensure compliance and guide managers.
• Post-secondary education with a focus in HR Management
• Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to build rapport and maintain relationships
• Sound judgement and problem-solving skills
• Effective written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to work and deliver effectively in a fast-paced environment as well as the ability to adjust to changing business priorities
